Theatre Performs ‘The Crucible’ for Fall Play
October 29, 2014
Theatre will be performing “The Crucible” at the Performing Arts Center on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m., Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.
“I’m excited to see our kids pull this off and for the audience to really see how times were different back then,” Director of Fine Arts Chuck Rowe said.
Director Melissa Danforth, who is also the head of the department, said she is excited to share this piece of literature with the students.
“The story sparks conversation about gossip and (the) damaging effect of wrong assumptions,” she said.
Promotion posters have been around school for weeks.
“I really hope the show is a big hit and that the kids have fun,” Rowe said.
The play takes place in the 1600s, where the spreading of news was a much slower process.
“I hope the audience leaves feeling for the characters and wondering what they would have done if they had been there at that time,” Danforth said.
Some of the vocabulary is unfamiliar to the actors.
“It took the kids awhile to get use to talking like their characters,” Rowe said. “Some of them spent many days after (practice) just to learn it.”
The play will be great senior Torres Jenkins said.
He said, “the people that are in it are very good and can work together (well).”
