Swifties are rushing to watch “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” at their nearest movie theater. The concert film amassed nearly $96 million in the first four days at the box office. Fans have united at their local theaters to enjoy the concert for the first time or rewatch it for those who have already seen it live. Of course, watching the movie isn’t the same as seeing it live, but Swift’s bold stage presence paired with her live vocals makes the experience feel real.
Filmed at SoFi Stadium, the concert opens with “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince.” Opening her show with her brightest era captivates the audience in seconds. Swift’s bright smile makes fans in the film and theater eager to see her perform. Swifties won’t resist singing along to the fan favorite, “Cruel Summer.” She wraps up the “Lover” era with “The Archer” and moves on to her “Fearless” era. Following “Fearless,” she presents “evermore,” “Reputation,” “Speak Now,” “Red,” “folklore,” “1989” and “Midnights.” Fans aren’t sure why she doesn’t follow a chronological order, but either way, the show is spectacular regardless of the performance sequence.
However, the highlight of the film for fans is the surprise songs. In the movie, Swift plays “Our Song” and “You’re On Your Own, Kid” on the piano. This part is the most heart-warming moment because Swift doesn’t worry about being perfect. She can enjoy the songs as fans cheer and sing along with her. This is the perfect way to lead to the end of her show as she closes with “Midnights.” The album became an instant hit last year, so obviously, she saves the best for last. Swift gracefully closes the show with all her dancers hand-in-hand as they take a bow in front of the audience.
Along with the show, Swift presented 10 unique outfits to represent each era. Mirroring her album covers, she aligned her stage costumes to the color schemes for each album. For instance, in her “Speak Now” era, she wore big, gorgeous gowns to match her dress on the album cover. Fans also showed off their Taylor Swift fashion at the movie theaters. Some wore “folklore” themed cardigans while others matched Swift’s past music video outfits. Swift and fans both show that they “never go out of style.”
Swiftie or not, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” is a concert film you don’t want to miss out on. The small movie theater setting made it a more intimate experience. Every single second of the nearly three-hour movie is worth it, even with her fans singing along to every word. You’ll adore her even more after watching the entire concert. Check out the film with fellow fans at your local theater before Jan. 12.
