October 27, 2015
Don’t plan on trick or treating or going to any haunted houses this weekend? Then check out these four flicks to still have a frightful night.
For fans of Kevin Bacon, this creepy thriller, Stir of Echoes is for you! This film reveals the life of Tom Witzky, who is put in a trance, after his sister-in-law hypnotizes him. After the trance, he starts to have flashes of a young woman and starts to learn her story. Although released in 1999, this movie is enjoyable for anyone that appreciates haunting flicks.
Paranormal Activity is a disturbing series that has a set of different families dealing with the same problem, a demon trying to hurt their child. There are five parts to this thrilling series. The movies are mostly filmed through the cameras hidden around the house, which makes it more personal when watching because it feels as if one is actually in the house.
Sleepy Hollow is for all of those Johnny Depp fans. Directed by Tim Burton, who also has released many popular movies before. Johnny Depp’s character, Constable Ichabod, has to investigate the three killings, which leads him to the mysterious legend of the Headless Horseman. This spooky old tale is an incredible retelling thanks to Depp. The question is will he believe in the legend?
Carrie is about a teenage girl who was pushed by bullying so much that she releases her telekinesis powers onto her tormentors at her senior prom. There are two versions on Netflix but the better one would probably be the 2013 version with Chloë Grace Moretz because it is modern and people from this generation can relate to the story better.
