Marvel Announces Phase Three
December 7, 2014
Marvel is introducing “Phase Three,” which is a series of nine upcoming movies. Although “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” is not truly part of the line-up, the film’s ending will cause a ripple effect and be the introduction to the third phase. Unlike the previous films, each will contribute to one ultimate storyline.
“Captain America: Civil War,” (coming to theaters on May 6, 2016) starts the line-up and involves two familiar teammates going head-to-head. The film is rumored to incorporate appearances by many new heroes, who will in turn, have their own movies.
“Doctor Strange,” involves a plot which explores a former surgeon who is mentored by a sorcerer to defeat evil. On Nov. 4, 2016 actor Benedict Cumberbatch (who will play Strange) will have to meet fans high expectations since the film is considered to be one of Marvel’s classic comics.
Because of the high success of its previous film, you can expect “Guardians of the Galaxy 2,” to blow the box office out of the water on May 5, 2017. The sequel will finally answer any of your questions that were left from the previous film.
On Nov. 7, 2017, Marvel will finally bring to the table the movie fans have been patiently waiting for. “Black Panther,” (who will be played by Chadwick Boseman) is a royal leader of an African nation and is granted powers in order to protect his kingdom.
No line-up would be complete without another dose of Thor. On July 28, 2017, the character must address the gods in order to protect Asgard from Ragnarok’s terror in “Thor: Ragnarok.” Loki fans you’re in luck since Tom Hiddleston (Loki) is said to be making an appearance.
The adored team assembles once again in “Avengers: Infinity War Part 1,” in May 2018 to defeat the titan Thanos and his everlasting gauntlet.
Are you looking for some girl power? Then this will be the right movie for you. “Captain Marvel,” will follow a woman who receives powers from an alien interaction. The film is expected to be released on July 6, 2018, so keep an eye out for the heroin in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
If you loved the Guardians of the Galaxy film, then you’ll probably be pleased with “Inhumans” since the movie incorporates another unpopular super hero team. The motion picture will not be released until Nov. 2, 2018.
Although the most anticipated movie is scheduled to release in May 2019, you can expect a collaboration from the Inhumans, Captain America and even Black Panther in “Avengers: Infinity War Part 2.” The film will be a great finale for actors Chris Evans (Captain America) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) who will no longer continue on with Marvel roles. Fans should be sure to bring a box of tissues for the actors’ final moments.
If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the planned releases, don’t worry. There is plenty of time, in fact years, to read and get familiar with the comic characters you might be a little confused about.
