Maroon 5 Does Not Disappoint with New Album Release
After two long years, Maroon 5 finally released their fifth studio album titled “V”, which is the Roman numeral for 5. The theme of love once again is the group’s focus on this strong pop record, which will certainly not disappoint fans.
The band has been together since 1994, releasing their first album Songs About Jane in June 2002. That album went quadruple platinum after its release. Most fans know their four hit singles that topped the charts: “Sunday Morning”, “This Love”, “Harder To Breathe” and “She Will Be Loved”. These songs became timeless classics.
Their second, third and fourth albums “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long”, “Hands All Over” and “Overexposed” are also unforgettable. The most popular songs off of those albums include “Makes Me Wonder”, “Misery” and “Payphone”.
Their newest album contains catchier tones including “Maps”, which is currently number 13 on iTunes. At press time, “V” was the number 11 album. Honestly, all the songs are exceptional.
There are a couple of songs that stand out, “Unkiss Me” for example. After hearing it once, the melody plays back in your head, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
“Sugar” is also one of those songs fans won’t be able forget about. With the song’s upbeat vibe and incredible lyrics, the music is a tune to dance to it.
In “Animals”, Levine sings that he is a hunter catching his prey in a romantic chase. The title does not sound like any of his pop tunes but more energetic. Those who really like his voice will enjoy the vocal range.
The most popular will probably be “It Was Always You”. It’s about a friend that he suddenly realizes is the one. Seeing how Levine recently got married, the listener is left wondering if the song is about his new wife. The song builds in intensity.
Though quite different from Maroon 5’s previous albums, “V” is remarkably interesting and fun to listen to. The album is definitely worth the price. Don’t forget to mark the calendar because the band will be performing at the American Airlines Center on Feb. 16, 2015.
