Traditional Holiday Movies You Can’t Miss
Grab your eggnog, gingersnaps and blankets, and cuddle up with these hilarious, humbling and heart-warming holiday classics.
Number five is a great remake of the Dr. Seuss classic book, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (2000). Jim Carrey brings to life the nastiness, the smelliest, the most horrible creature known to man: the Grinch. However, in this film, the producers shed some light on how this little boy became such a terrible person. Follow the Grinch, Cindy Lou Who and others through a funny and heart-warming movie. It is unusual to see characters come to life in something besides cartoon format.
“Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” from (1964), comes in at number four. The well-known tale about a misfit reindeer who becomes one of the key deer to lead Santa’s sleigh into a stormy night, therefore saving Christmas. Rudolph has been warming the hearts of families for almost 50 years. This is considered by most to be the best holiday classic. Make sure to catch it on CBS, which owns the television rights.
At number three, “The Polar Express” (2004) reveals a brand new Christmas tale. The amazing ride on a magical train, traveling miles to the north pole from your house, to see the big man himself. The captivating graphics amazes and keeps you hanging on your couch cushion. Tom Hanks plays pivotal roles and demonstrates that he can do almost any role he’s assigned, and blow you away. Polar Express is the best Christmas movie of my generation and is sure to be played on televisions far into our future generations, a must see movie.
“Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” (1970) tells the magical story of how Kris Kringle becomes Santa Claus. Narrated by Santa’s personal mailman, who delivers children’s letters throughout the year, the legend is brought to animated life with the use of stop motion animation. This is a special way of filming clay forms; moved and shot in small increments to make the forms appear as if they were moving on their own. This comedic and family friendly flick is appropriate for all and any viewers looking for an old school holiday movie.
Finally, the all time best Christmas movie ever, is “A Christmas Story” (1983). By far one of the most watched movies on Christmas, tells the story of elementary kid, Ralphie Parker. It illustrates the days leading up to the big day, with comical scenes that have you on the floor dying of laughter. Tongues sticking to polls, revealing leg lamps, and Red Ryder BB guns will light up your face and you’re whole family. No matter how aged this movie gets, it never gets old in its thirtieth year of existence. This movie is a movie that is no doubt to be missed on Christmas Day.
