Allegiant Meets Shocking End
After many months of impatiently waiting, fans of the Divergent trilogy were finally able to get their hands on Allegiant, the last book of Veronica Roth’s series. With all of the suspense, the book will have readers finding themselves wanting more.
This action-filled, adventure novel is guaranteed to have fans hooked on the story line. Fans will find it impossible to put down. In addition to the engaging storyline, the author also managed to add an ending that readers will never see coming. The ending will sadden and disappoint readers.
Roth’s storyline is different from her previously written books because she constantly switches from one main character’s point of view to the other. Even though this seems confusing, it actually helps give more background about Tris and her boyfriend Tobias.
The novel not only offers more answers to what makes someone divergent, but also raises more questions that enable readers to keep turning the page. The story takes place where Insurgent, the second book of the series, left off. Tris is still in Chicago and awaiting her trial for betraying her city and her faction, a group of people that all follow a certain belief.
Tris is later put under Candor’s truth serum, a faction that believes in honesty, but ends up being found not guilty, thanks to her ability to resist the serums. After her release, she sees how society has changed in her city, and she doesn’t approve. She is later recruited into groups that are loyal to the faction system and the former government, which is known as the allegiant.
As the plot progresses, the allegiant decide to find out what is beyond the walls of Chicago by sending people out of the city. Of course, Tris and her friends are among them. Once outside the city, the group finds something they never expected to find.
Throughout the book, readers will be pleased with the development of Tris and Tobias’s relationship. Fans will also see multiple emotions such as jealousy and anger that makes this novel more of a roller coaster in comparison to the previous two.
Readers of the Divergent series will find Allegiant mostly entertaining and fun to read, except for the last few chapters. The story line is really engaging, but readers should keep in mind that the ending will not be like the other books; those who read this book need to be prepared to be hit hard emotionally in the last few chapters. Allegiant is a must for anyone who has kept up with the series, even if the ending is what fans wanted.
