Walking on the tennis courts with her racket in her right hand and the tennis ball in her left, she sees her opponent on the court and she walks towards varsity player and senior Natalie Torres and they shake hands. As she walks back to her area of the court and starts off the game by serving the ball.
Natalie has played tennis all four years of high school. She decided to play tennis because every other sport that she tried didn’t fit her personal criteria of what she wanted. When Natalie first started playing her freshman year,  it seemed easy to play but she thought wrong. After playing for a while, she started enjoying the game and enjoying the sport.
“My junior year was the most exciting year because of all the matches and all the other players on the team, they were so much fun and taught me a lot of things I needed to know for tennis,” Natalie said.
If Natalie could redo one thing in tennis, she would redo all last year because she had so much fun with the other players and all the matches and play-offs. When Natalie wins a match it pleases her. She enjoyed making new friends and playing more matches.
“My favorite game was last year when the team went to Granbury and I won my singles and doubles,” Natalie said. “It was a big deal because it was in the play-offs for regional match so every match counted and mine was one of many that got us to Regional Tennis Match.”
Natalie ranks number two on the team. The coaches thought she deserved rank number one but she didn’t want to play with all the other players who ranked high, she wanted to keep her goal low. She didn’t want the pressure of winning major games like playoffs, area, and state matches.
“I love tennis. It’s the best sport ever. It’s fun. I love the feeling of winning a match. It’s the best feeling ever,” Natalie said. “I love that I found a sport I can do for fun and still play competitively for the school. Working hard does pay off and the tennis team proves it every time we play.”
