The lady wolves basketball team served breakfast at Applebee’s on Saturday Jan. 9. Freshman Jordan Sansom sold tickets, cleared tables and mingled with customers.
“Serving breakfast at Applebee’s was so much fun. I loved asking people what they wanted, what they needed, how they were doing and getting them what ever they needed. I would not mind doing this job for quick cash,” Sansom said.
The lady wolves sold tickets for $8, giving the customers a meal of two pancakes, two hash browns, two sausages and a drink of their choosing. Freshman Destiney Hutchison enjoyed serving customers.
“I really learned how to be patient, and not to be rude, and I took time to ask people how they where doing and about their day and I could really understand where they were coming from as if I was in their shoes. It was fun, now I know how to be a waitress and I love it but it is hard work for real I do not know how they put up with all of those rude hungry people,” Hutchison said.
The lady wolves reserved Applebee’s from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., they split the shifts equally. Freshman Leah Weenig did not mind taking time off of her weekend.
“It was hard work but nothing we could not handle I mean we play basketball we endure more in practice and games. This was all for a great cause so I did not mind taking time off from Saturday, I am glad I did not pass up this opportunity to get closer to the people I consider to be family,” Weenig said.
Though freshman Catherine Franklin did not know the reason for raising money, she still worked her hardest.
“I think we were raising money for our basketball program so in the future we can have some really fresh stuff. I think us working together really showed coach Richards, Harvey, Godfrey and Branch that we care about our team and, I could tell coach Harvey was proud of us,” Franklin said.
Senior Alysse Barlow said she made memories that would last her a lifetime. Barlow enjoyed the time with her friends, and experienced the life of a waitress.
“It was fun acting like I had a job,” Barlow said, “I liked the aroma of the food, but I did not like when people were nagging at me, I do not plan on becoming a waitress but it was a great experience.”
