Christkind Market Worth the Trip

With holiday decorations at every corner, the smell of roasted pecans in the air and cheerful families enjoying German holiday traditions, the annual Christkindl Market makes the Road to Six Flags unrecognizable.

The Christkindl Market is an event held during the four weeks of advent that celebrates the Christkindl angel; a fairy like being who delivers gifts to children. Admission is free and the market consists of a variety of food, shops, local entertainment and much more.

There is a wide variety of food vendors from traditional German schnitzel and bratwurst to funnel cakes and popcorn, so you are sure to find something you like. Other items available are Fletchers corny dogs, Big Sky concessions and Victoria Chefina Chocolate.

If you’re wanting to buy unique gifts, Christkindl is the perfect place. With over 20 different shops you can check everyone off your list. You can find jewelry, decor, candy, pottery and much more.

Christkindl is very kid friendly, with a petting zoo, tubing slides and peppermint park. Your siblings will stay easily occupied. If you are still in need of Santa pictures you can get them done at the market. The lines are relatively short, meeting him is free and you can purchase pictures, with packages starting at $20.

The market is a great place to support local talent. There will be many different performances from dance studios, schools, choirs and musical groups. The upcoming act will be “Vocal Majority” on Dec. 17, at 8 p.m.

Christkindl is a great place that the whole family will enjoy. It is definitely worth taking time out of your busy holiday schedule and stopping by to enjoy the traditions of a German Christmas.
