At rivalry basketball games, teachers and staff won’t let the students from the opposing teams sit next to each other. They want to reduce to chances of a fight happening. Students want to sit with each other so teachers should allow that.

At basketball games students can not sit with the other schools especially a rival school such as Summit.  Just because our school plays against another school doesn’t mean we can’t get along. We grew up with them through our junior high years and just got separated between high schools. We see the same people from our school everyday so why can we only sit with them. If we sat with the other school we would see many of our old friends and our close friends who we lost contact with. You go to the games to support your teams. When your players look into the stands they want to see their school cheering for them not a random group of people. Also, it evens out the stands. We can’t have everybody sitting on one side of the gym. They might just separate you if you came to the game with a student from the other school.

The teachers and staff say they don’t want us to sit with the other schools because of fighting. They want to stop the drama between the schools. All our friends and family members don’t go to the school we go. Separating because of what school you go to can’t be any better than separating because of race or gender. If they start separating students at something as simple as a basketball game, who knows what else they may banned.

The staff will never know how students will act with each other until they try. We should write a letter to the principal opposing this.

I strongly disagree. Thats just ridiculous. You might as well make a seating chart in the cafeteria because of fights. Fights happen anywhere. Including our own home campus. But i promise you very few people, namely the ones off the court, care enough about “school rivalries” to get into a fight over them. If i go to a game, its not only to support my school, but to see old friends i havent seen in years. Dont take that rare privelege away from me.
